OH WHAT A NIGHT,
late in fall of 2010.
Age of men not having
to be men, bears are
getting ready winter den.
But I want to get back to
remembering when,
different times, different night.
Way back in 1963, teacher said
"what do you want to be?"
"How about just being a
wanna-be?" Down road will
there be any glee for me?
Oh what a time to be alive.
It was Ides of March, 1964,
I marched off with childish
idea of war! Now would be
tested to see if I'm hard core!
Slept in fox holes and on the
jungle floor, when opportunity
arose had not so fresh whore!
Took a through and through
but still finished out my tour!
But after that did not ask for
any more!
DID I SLEEP LAST NIGHT?
Thinking did wars in Iraq or
Afghanistan reach any height?
DID I SLEEP LAST NIGHT?
World wakes up on edge of
fright, some with first of the day
Bud Lite!
DID I SLEEP LAST NIGHT?
Back to streets of South Bronx,
back to jungles of Viet Nam!
Looking out front window on to
Florida Street where crack dealers
set daily beat!
In the past or in the NOW!
It is WE who killed golden cow!
Who scares you more baby?
Chinese economists or Chairman Mao?
Find answer in The Bronx Tao!
