Riding home on an
Amtrak train, lady
sat down next to me.
Radiated real sense
of pride, glad to have
good seat buddy on
this Amtrak ride.
Spoke to me of her
young daughter who
had left home.
Out into the world,
freely to roam.
Went out front door
peacefully, there was
no fight or roar.
Last words were,
"Mom, thanks for a
taste of small town life,
now to get on with the
rest of my life!"
With teary eyes Mom
these words were hauled
at me, "My little town girl
is some where out there
in this cruel world!"
She told me that she saw
in me no surprise.
Told I met many out there
chasing the sunrise!
Seeking out reason but
only finding the rhyme!
Mother Earth is a little town
mom and daily sunrise!
Train came to a halt!
Track was missing a bolt!
Sitting high up on mountain
asked if she was at fault!
Replied, "Blame is a game
played mainly by the lame.
Way to delay what is needed
to be accomplished today!
Wonderful small town mom
looking for that rainbow not
for pot of gold but peace in
her heart.
Wonderful small town mom,
hoping to find something
missing way too long.........
