Woke this morning to
see rain falling from above,
thought about this day back
in nineteen sixty four.
Day I left South Bronx out
high school's back door!
Kicked started my life before
becoming street hard core.
Did not need penthouse or
even live on top floor, trained
in army for coming Viet Nam
where all went to deplore.
Like current wars many treat
like a big snore, after all it is
fighting by functional illiterates
leading the poor!
Japan this morning is in need
of time of mourning. Tough as
a people and individuals will
not act feeble. All taking care
of each other, all equal from
mother to brother.
Will celebrate leaving home
today forty seven years ago,
for my individual independence
to strike first blow........
